General care

Most tortoises are hibernated in the winter by their owners, as this can be a difficult time for you and your pet and would suggest that you give us a call for advice on the best way to approach it.

Nutrition

They are generally healthy if fed a diet that includes plenty of good quality hay, fruit and vegetables.  In addition a specially prepared mix such as Guinea Pig Excel, will provide them with essential vitamins and nutrients.

Good diet should prevent any health problems with your guinea pig but, as with every other pet periodic check ups are recommended. Their teeth and nails grow continuously and may need clipping. Also you should consult with a vet if any areas of skin become reddened, sore or itchy.
